Lee Kinard was the youngest announcer at WFMY TV in Greensboro, N.C., still new to the job, when the station's program director stopped him in the hallway in the fall of 1957 regional sports network and asked if he'd like to do a morning show. "Sure, " replied Kinard, "what do you want me to do?" "I don't know" said the program director, "you think about it regional sports network and let me know what you come up with." What Kinard came up with was a 30-minute program called "The Good Morning Show, " a mix of music, news, weather, sports regional sports network and public service announcements, which premiered at 7:30 on December 16, 1957. Kinard never dreamed that 40 years later he would still be host of the show, now two-hours long regional sports network and a regional institution with a national reputation.
